I wanted a high quality engine oil filter to withstand the heat generated by today's engines, while still filtering all the grit and engine deposits using synthetic based oil that disintegrate the filter element on an inferior quality filter. Mobil1 has been around for many years and they developed this type of filter element for engines that use a canister type. I replaced this Mobil1, M1C-451 canister oil filter specially made for synthetic oils and inserted it in a 2006 Volvo, S40, 2.4L, 5 cyl. engine. I am sure this oil filter may fit some other vehicle but always check for exact replacement with the manuals. This Mobil1 oil filter is a little more costly but is sold and shipped as TWO filters not one. These oil filters come with two gaskets inside a plastic bag so identify and replace with the correct one. Somewhere I read if these filters were made in China or the U.S. I have no idea as the box doesn't specify origin but all I can tell you is that they seem to be of higher quality and of better or equal material than the original factory oil filters made by Mann or Volvo. So this is the first time I'm using these Mobil oil filters, two weeks in and so far no problems, no leaks, just a smooth sail ride. Highly recommend and always add Prolong Engine Treatment to your factory recommended motor oil of choice.
